Guinness never used a Pelican in their advertising. This one carries the Crown mark with the addition of ‘Ltd’ which appears on fakes of all shapes and sizes.

These are the latest product of the faker’s imagination to appear. Pig shapes were produced by Carlton Ware in the 1970s & 80s but this pair was not amongst them.
They are marked as shown in the inset to the photograph

Robertsons Golly Band |
Fake |
|
Original |
Fake |
Staying with the advertising ware theme, the Golly Band was originally produced for Robertson’s jam in the mid 1980s. The originals were about 3 inches tall and were individually boxed. The musician’s instrument was printed on the front face of its black base. A Bandstand could be bought for them to stand on and was the only piece that used a Carlton Ware backstamp. The originals were hollow as shown in the inset to the main photo.
Those with the white bases, shown here, are fakes and have a Carlton Ware script mark on the rear face of the base. The originals were not backstamped.
The band set comprises a Trumpeter, Accordionist, Bassist, Guitarist, Clarinettist, Drummer, Saxophonist and Vocalist.

Several of these have been seen, and have fetched high prices on eBay. Beware they are yet another example of the inventiveness of the fakers.
