Walking Ware Never produced by CW

This conical sugar shaker has been seen with other potteries’ marks. This one has the Crown Mark as used in the early 1900s with the addition of ‘Ltd’. The shape, without the feet, was made by Carlton Ware in the 1930's and is extremely rare.

These seem to be loosely based on the original walking ware salt and pepper pots. But these never came from Carlton Ware.
Walking Ware Fake

Original

Fake
First produced in the early 1970's. All originals should have a Carlton Ware, Lustre Pottery mark, or Carlton Ware, England underneath one of the feet. When Carlton Ware went into receivership Price Kensington purchased some of the Walking Ware moulds. CW3 believe that some of the original moulds found their way into the hands of one of the counterfeiters. This is one such example. It bears a Crown mark (1894-1927) which is far too early for the date of introduction of Walking Ware.

Loosely based on Walking Ware this composite picture are all fakes pretending to be by Carlton Ware. A number of different marks have been used on this type of pottery. None of these shapes were made by the factory.
